Hello and welcome to your union!
OPSEU stands for Ontario Public Service Employees Union, celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2011. OPSEU L608 consists of about 150 members, and is a part of the Broader Public Sector (BPS).
Your union takes part in negotiating your Collective Agreement, processes grievances, takes part in social and community activities, and elects delegates to attend the OPSEU convention, union training and other important meetings. It’s important that you attend your local meetings so that you can be a part of any decision making.
Your local banks with The Credit Union, who provides their services to all Ontario government and civil service employees. If you are interested in banking with them, please visit their website (http://mycreditunion.ca/) or contact Tessa Matheson (firstname.lastname@example.org).
OPSEU also offers special deals to members, including cell phones, insurance, travel and event tickets. So make sure to take a look at OPSEU’s website for more information (http://www.opseu.org/benefits/index.htm).
If you would like to become more involved in your union, or have any questions or concerns, please speak to one of our Local Executive Committee (LEC) members, listed on the back of this page.
