Solidarity Day: Free Coffee May 12th!

On Monday May 12, 2014, our Bargaining Team is heading back to the table for contract negotiations. Our bargaining group has only three days scheduled for bargaining in May. May 12, 13 and 14 of next week. We would like to ask that you wear an OPSEU or blue coloured t-shirt, and a “Support OPSEU L608” button on each of these days.

In order to kick off the week, we will be providing a free coffee to anyone wearing an OPSEU shirt and/or button on Monday May 12th

Arlene will be handing out coffee coupons near the Tim Horton’s in the main cafeteria. Anyone, support staff or not, wearing a button or t-shirt can obtain a free coffee coupon – WHILE THEY LAST!

Please join in showing support for our bargaining team’s efforts by wearing your OPSEU t-shirt and/or button! Go team OPSEU!

Solidarity Day: Wednesday April 16, 2014

We have buttons! Don’t have one? Message us at our Facebook page or contact one of your executive members and we’ll get you one.

Thank you Verdon for designing them, and all of the lovely ladies in Print Plus for making them! If you are looking for buttons for your event, contact Print Plus.

Don’t forget, tomorrow is another solidarity day! Please wear an OPSEU or blue coloured shirt in support of our bargaining team!

Bargaining Update (April 15 2014)‏

As you all should be aware our current collective agreement expires on April 30th, 2014. Your bargaining team members (Rob Boulet, Kyle Charron and Dave Vadnais) have meet the employer on April 8th and 9th and have three more days scheduled in April.

Our bargaining process began over a year ago, much research and energies have gone into what the team is working on with the employer. Thanks to everyone who took their own time to come out to meetings on evenings, and weekend morning, and to those who represented departments and put in even more work. Without your help this process would have been much more difficult.

From all of the information gathered, discussed and voted on. The bargaining team was given its mandate at the January 30th demand set meeting.
After the first two days of bargaining, the bargaining team currently believes that they can reach a fair contract with the University prior to the April 30th deadline.

However, should they require longer than the end of April, the current collective agreement will be extended past the April 30th date.
If during the bargaining process the team arrives at an impasse at any point, there will be an immediate call for a meeting to discuss with the membership and seek direction.

Thank you everyone for your ongoing support, through emails, in person and your shows of solidarity. The bargaining team will endeavor to keep you posted with as much information as they can.

The next Solidarity Day is tomorrow Wednesday April 16. Please support your bargaining team and wear an OPSEU or blue coloured shirt.
