Annual Christmas Walk (2013)

Thank you to everyone who volunteered or stopped by to say ‘hello’ at the OPSEU Area Council tent at the North Bay Christmas Walk. Members of local 608 and local 635 helped serve hot apple cider, hot chocolate and cookies to the community. The beverages, tent and good cheer was provided by your OPSEU Area Council. The cookies were provided by Community Living FJ Dellandrea Place.

FT Bargaining Survey 2013 PT2

The next bargaining survey is available from Nov 21 to Nov 27, 2013 at 4PM. This is a follow up survey to get a better understanding of how the previous survey was ranked.

Time for Action: Bonfield CUPE Local 4616

A message from Henri Giroux, North Bay and District Labour Council:

As you know Bonfield CUPE local 4616 has been on strike since August 1st.

They are on the picket line from 8:00 am till 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am to 12:00 pm on Friday.

Saturday at the Landfill 9am to 2pm.

There has been NO movement with this mayor and councilors. They have continued to bring in scab labour with no regard to the local members.

It is time to take action.

Please let me know if you are committed to joining me on Saturday November 16th 2013 at the landfill (185 Bluesea Rd., Bonfield, ON).

Our Visit with CUPE 4616

Members from OPSEU locals 608 and 658 traveled to the landfill site in Bonfield, Ontario on Saturday November 9 2013 to visit the workers of CUPE 4616 who are currently on strike. It was day 101 of the strike, but the group was still in high spirits.

Together, OPSEU locals 608, 657, 658, 616, 629 and the region 6 board donated $1250 to CUPE 4616. Thank you brothers and sisters!
